Accessing the InClass Educational Portal (Updated for 2009-2010)

InClass is an online communication tool available to PAUSD secondary teachers and students. The system is an all-in-one program for accessing homework, course materials, announcements, and grades. Since its inception in Palo Alto, many have found InClass to be very useful.

InClass can extend the boundaries of the traditional classroom so that learning can take place anytime and anywhere. With InClass, you and your child can access information relevant to your child's school day through a browser and the Internet - 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. InClass is used to supplement face-to-face instruction, to post homework and assignments, and to foster home-school communication.

In an effort to maintain security while dispensing information, you and your child will be assigned a password-protected login to PAUSD’s InClass website:

http://k2.pausd.org

The student’s username is his/her Student Identification Number. New students will receive their passwords from their homeroom teachers. Students will receive additional instructions for various aspects of the system.

Parents have an Observer Role in InClass. You can see features, like homework and assignments, but you cannot participate in the class. The parent username is the Student ID Number followed by _p (Example: 12345678_p). The initial password is the student's Student ID Number. Note: parents with more than one child should log in with the oldest child's ID, then go to the "Parent Dashboard" to see other children's accounts. You also are advised to change you password when you log on to InClass for the first time. There is a place to input your email address so that, if we choose to send an email to Observers, you will receive it. Both can be found in the Personal Information section when you log in.

Please remember that this program, while it has been used for some years, is new for many teachers, students, and parents. This year it has been upgraded with a new look and feel. With any new program, there is a learning curve for all of us. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work with you to implement the system. For more info, including video tutorials on using the new "Parent Dashboard" feature, check this page again in about a week.
