Many of us are still getting used to the option of wearing masks indoors as well as outdoors at school, but I hope that you are comfortable in your choice and we all can accept and respect the choices of others. Here’s our schedule: NEW TODAY! COVID Test Kits for Every JLS Student and Staff Member: COVID test kits were delivered to all PRIME classrooms today (Wednesday, March 30). Every JLS student and staff member was to receive two test kits (2 boxes) today. These kits are different than what we have distributed before; this time, each student and staff member will receive two boxes containing one test kit (see picture below). These test kits are provided with Spring Break in mind. As more travel and social functions will be taking place, these tests should be used one day prior to returning to school after the Spring Break (April 10, 2022). The second test is to be administered two to three days after returning from the Spring Break between April 13, 2022 or April 14, 2022. Tonight's Parent Education Event - Letting Go: Independence for Tweens and Teens Discuss how children grow and mature, through testing limits, making mistakes, and trying again. Learn practical strategies to nurture responsibility and resilience, as the parental role shifts from being micro-managers to consultants.Friday, Minimum Day – JLS Students Dismissed @ 12:40 PM Friday, April 1, 2022 is a Minimum Day to jump-start our upcoming Spring Break! Students will be dismissed at 12:40 PM. Students can pick up a ‘Grab-n’ Go’ lunch on their way off-campus if needed.

- Who: Susan Stone, BSE, of the Center for Children and Youth, a division of Jewish Family and Children's Services.
Susan Stone is a certified special education teacher specializing in effective parent-child communication and behavioral management. She has taught behaviorally challenged teens, operated home-based preschools, and managed crisis hotlines for parents and teens. Susan is an active parenting expert at the Center for Children & Youth and the author of Real Parents, Real Kids, Real Talk. She has a bachelor’s degree in Special Education from Illinois State University.recent edition of Paw Prints, the JLS Digital Newspaper. Ramadan is scheduled on the lunar calendar so the dates adjust each year (last year Ramadan was observed from April 13 to May 13). Ramadan is the Muslim month of fasting. Practicing Muslim students, staff, and community members will be fasting from dawn until dusk (approximately 6:00 AM to 8:00 PM). Fasting means NO FOOD and NO WATER. Ramadan celebrations often involve prayer late into the night. It is not unusual to be up past midnight for prayer and then up again at 3:30-4 AM to eat before dawn and pray. Muslim students, staff, and community members may be tired, hungry, and dehydrated. Please be aware, thoughtful, mindful, and kind. Please feel free to reach out to your counselor or administrator if you have any special concerns, questions, or if we can be a support. Quarter 3 Progress Grades Available on Infinite Campus: As of last Friday, March 25, students and families are able to check Infinite Campus to view their Reports for our Third Quarter grades. To check your child’s grades, please log in to the Infinite Campus Parent Portal and select your child’s name. You should be able to view Third Quarter Grade Information. Please keep in mind that the grades listed are indicators of a student’s progress through the second semester. If you haven’t already done so, please consider having a conversation with your student about how their classes are going; ask them what they are learning about, what they enjoy, and how they might want to improve before the end of our school year. If you have any questions regarding the academic progress, please contact your child’s teacher directly. Spring Break Reminders: Our last major school break is finally here, which indicates that the end of the school year is just around the corner. School and school offices will be closed Monday, April 4 - Friday, April 8 for Spring Break. Teachers and staff will also be relaxing, recharging, and disconnected, as we hope that you are too.
