We have enjoyed a busy week!  Last night our 8th Grade Band students joined Greene and Paly students to perform during the halftime show, and we are currently getting ready for Student Council Elections next Tuesday!  Check out a few fun pictures below that capture the campaign posters of some of our candidates!

JLS Homework Habitat - OPEN Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays!
Homework Habitat is an after-school program that takes place in the JLS Library at 2:45-4:15 PM on Mondays and Wednesdays, and 3:30-5:00 PM on Tuesdays and Thursdays.  This program is staffed by JLS teachers and aides and is open to every JLS student who would like a quiet place to work on their Homework after school.

Transportation services are available daily!  After school transportation stops and estimated drop off time included below. Students will need to check in at the start of each Homework Habitat session and confirm if they are planning to ride the bus.

Ongoing Asymptomatic COVID Testing Clinics - THURSDAYS at JLS:
In partnership with Predicine Labs, we continue to provide on-site COVID-19 testing every Thursday.  Elementary students will use an oral swab, while middle and high school students and staff use a nasal swab. Students and staff who want to participate will need to have a completed Test Requisition Form (TRF). Paper copies are available in the office and soft copies are linked below. This Clinic will be available to staff & students during the school day as well as before school, at brunch, lunch, and after school.

For anyone who has not yet participated in on-site testing will need to complete the long form to participate in one of our on-site COVID testing clinics.

For anyone who has already participated in an on-site testing clinic will need to complete the short form  on days they want to participate in our on-site testing clinics.

Changes to Protocol (Published Monday, September 13, 2021):
Beginning last week, staff and parent/guardians may pre-register for on-site COVID Testing by completing the link here or scanning the QR code below. This will allow participants to register online for onsite testing and eliminate the paper registration. Please note, these links are school site specific, so if you have children at different schools, you’ll need to use the individual code specifically for your child’s school.

Once you have registered, the individual being tested will only need to walk up to the testing clinic and they will be able to search them by name. The lab staff will be able to immediately connect the  barcode for the test sample to the online registration information, shortening turn around times for notifications. You will receive your test results through an email or text message from “Patient Connect,” which is Predicine Labs new data system.

Helpful Notes About Testing Timelines:

  • On-site testing: If participants register with the QR code/link in advance, test results will turn around in less than 48 hours. If they only do a paper form, it will likely take longer due to the data entry.
  • Take-home testing: Take-home tests require a completed form each time since they are not done directly with the health care professional. We are working to get our online registration for take home tests up and running that will decrease turnaround time due to data entry. Individuals who are positive will be notified within 48 hours. An official notice of negative results may take longer.

The district positivity rate remains low and despite the challenges, we are proud to offer a COVID testing program to our students and staff. We thank you for your patience and for your commitment to safety. Thriving through the pandemic requires an effort by all of us, working together to keep our school community safe.
