Principal’s Community Update: Thursday 2:30 PM Dismissal, Friday Minimum Day, Community Engagement, Input and Feedback

 

Hello JLS Families,

I hope this message finds you well.  This message includes a few quick announcements and a couple of important reminders: 

  • This Week’s Schedule: 

    • Thursday, March 28 - “Restructured” Bell Schedule = 2:30 PM Dismissal

    • Friday, March 29 - PAUSD Minimum Day = Middle School Dismissal is 12:40 PM.  Grab ‘n Go Lunch is available 12:40-1:00 PM. 

  • Spring Break: Monday, April 1st - Friday, April 5th (No School, JLS Office closed)

  • JLS Community Zoom Recording and Slide Deck from Friday, March 22

  • CA Healthy Kids Survey for JLS families - Due March 30!

Restructured Thursday (3/28): School ends at 2:30 pm (not 3:15 pm)

PAUSD middle schools have adjusted schedules for the weeks of school with Friday minimum days to balance instructional time between Thursday and Friday classes. This shift also creates additional afternoon time for staff collaboration, promoting idea exchange and expertise sharing, aligning with our commitment to educational excellence.

Friday, March 29 is a District-Wide Minimum Day – School is out @ 12:40 PM for all Middle School students. Grab ‘n Go Lunch pick-up is available for all students from 12:40-1:00 PM.

Here is our slide deck from our Community Zoom last week and our recording.  Both are posted on our school website.  During our presentation, we talked about our upcoming special schedules, our recent Student Climate Survey responses, as well as opportunities for community feedback. 

Community Feedback through the California Healthy Kids Survey (CHKS):

Please provide your input regarding your experiences at JLS via the following link: https://wested.ugam-apps.com/wested/ts/su8k.  We hope to collect input from families by March 30, 2024. This is an anonymous survey; families do not have to respond to any questions they feel could be used to identify them. If you have more than one child at this school, you will only need to complete one survey for this school. Please fill out just one survey about the school using your oldest child as a reference.

Community Feedback Regarding PAUSD’s 2024-25 Promise Goals:

We would appreciate your input on formulating our District’s 2024-25 Promise Goals. You may use the draft 2023-24 Promise Annual Report as a reference, and provide your feedback using this link by April 10, 2024. 

Recruiting Parent Partners: Our school is currently seeking parent volunteers to help with some light supervision during Lunch times, Mondays-Fridays, 11:40 AM-12:15 PM. If you’re interested in volunteering, please fill out this Google Form!
